Wedding Venue info
LA's Union Station was partially designed by the father and son team of John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson, who also designed LA's City Hall. It opened in May 1939 and it saw heavy use during World War II, but later saw declining patronage due to LA's growing love affair with the automobile and the advances of the air transportation industry.
Enclosed garden patios are on either side of the waiting room, and passengers exiting the trains were originally directed through the southern garden, which is where our ceremony will take place. Attached to the main building to the south is a room designed by southwestern architect Mary Colter. This room used to house LA Union Station's Fred Harvey restaurant (the last of the "Harvey House" restaurants to be connected to a train station). On our day the room will once again be full of excitement and entertainment as this is where our reception will take place.
If you have never been to Union Station before, but experience a feeling of deja vu while visiting, it may be due to the fact that Union Station has been featured prominently in films such as “Silver Streak,” “Blade Runner,” “Bugsy” and “Pearl Harbor” and on such television programs as “24,” “Alias” and “Profiler.”
